Swingin' in the Square with SSDS

August 20 and September 10, 1998
Hanover Square, Downtown Syracuse

SEPTEMBER 10 EVENT IS CANCELED DUE TO THE STORM. PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD.

Mark Thursday August 20 and Thursday September 10 on your calendars and join us for great (free) dances at Hanover Square with live bands. These events were created especially for SSDS and we need your support to promote swing dancing.

The Hanover Square Association will present "Swingin' in the Square", a series of Thursday evening dance parties in this historic neighborhood of downtown, on August 20 and September 10, from 5 to 8 pm. The programs will feature dance demonstrations and instruction, live entertainment and stand-up comedy.

On both evenings, the Syracuse Swing Dance Society (SSDS) will be on hand for dance demonstrations of West Coast Swing, East Coast Swing (Jitterbug) and the Latin Hustle. SSDS instructors Steve Ryan and Kim McLaughlin will also give free ECS instruction to any interested dancers. The lessons will take approx 30 minutes.

On August 20, the scheduled musical entertainment will be the Joe Whiting Band, performing from 5-8pm. Comic Joe DeLion will give a short stand-up routine during the band break.

On September 10, the band, Stroke, will perform 5-8pm, with joker Moody McCarthy providing the comedy break. Our regular hop starts at Damon's right after the dance at the square.
