3rd Annual Halloween Swing Dance

Hello All:

This note is a little late, but I wanted to thank everyone for the GREAT JOB they did in organizing the third annual SSDS Halloween Dance. I think the event was a huge success, and that is because our volunteers are so devoted and talented.

I especially want to thank Mark Johnson for coordinating the door, Nika Vinson for her great job of putting together a creative decorating crew, and Kim McLaughlin for organizing the dance and costume contests and prizes. Thanks too to Meg Rickert and Nicole Putnam for the wonderful refreshments, especially the home-backed cookies. Thanks to Greg Boyer, Can Isik and Steve Ryan for their constant and tireless efforts at organizing and promoting SSDS events.

Thank you to everyone who helped out, from taking money for a shift at the door, to decorating and cleaning up the dance hall. I hope you all had fun, too!!!

The bands will alternate sets. Their music is guaranteed to satisfy all swing dancers.

Date: Saturday, October 31
Time: 9pm - 2am
Location: Ukrainian Home, 1317 W. Fayette St. 3rd floor. There is a huge wall-to-wall wooden dance space & a stage for the band.
Cost: $8 includes refreshments. $2 discount with valid student ID.

Diana Leigh & Crazy Rhythm

You probably know this great swing band from Ithaca. They played at our first ever halloween dance, their CD "Crazy 8" was among the top regional CD's last year. Their music is suitable for lindy, jitterbug and some west coast swing.

Phil Petroff and the Natural Fact

Phil took the 1997 Sammy award for best blues instrumentalist. We danced to their music many times at Dinoasur BBQ, Legends, etc. They are one of the best blues bands in the area, with music suitable for west coast swing and jitterbug.
